Stories of three amazing people who have made lifestyle changes to lose and keep off extra weight.

Three years ago I lost 95 lbs. I worked out 5 days a week and watched what I ate daily. I maintained it for 3 years, but I noticed that slowly my weight began increasing– 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 pounds over 6 months. I started to count every calorie and exercise more religiously. Four months went by, but I was still NOT losing. I wanted to give up! What was going on? I did this before. What am I doing wrong? Is there something medically wrong with me? I got blood work done hoping that it was going to be something medically wrong with me so the weight gain wouldn’t be my fault but my body’s. At that point I consulted Sandy.

On my first visit Sandy taught me a method to count portions sizes. She pointed out my problem was that I counted only calories and not focusing on food groups. I was shocked to find out that I could gain weight when eating 1200 calories a day. Sandy helped me learn about foods and how they work in your body. Next, she mixed up my workout plan. She gave me a workout plan that I could love—it was quick. Now I have more time to spend with my daughter.

After a month I was back down to my goal weight! I hope my story inspires the active that are in a routine and are not getting results to seek outside advice. Sometimes we don’t see what we need to until someone else shows us.

When I met Sandra, I had been overweight for twenty plus years and had already tried every diet. When I dieted, I lost weight; but I ended up gaining back everything I lost plus more. I ate when I was sad, depressed, stressed, angry, or happy. I let food control my life. As a result of being overweight, my blood pressure was out of control, and I developed congestive heart failure. My asthma got worse, and I had to take steroids. Walking, even standing, caused severe pain on my joints. It was at that point I considered gastric bypass surgery. I hated the way I looked and felt, but I was really moved to action when my four year old grandson said, “Please don’t die, Nana. I don’t want you to leave me – I love you.” I knew then that I had to do something about my weight.

It was around this time that I met Sandra. She told me it was going to take a real commitment on my part if I wanted to succeed, but she was confident she had the means to help me attain my weight loss goal. I put my faith in the Lord to give me the strength I would need and in Sandra for her guidance and encouragement.

Today, I am in control and exercise has become part of my daily routine. Before Sandra, I weighed 372 lbs. One year and two months later I have lost 103 lbs. (half way to my goal weight).

I believe in order to achieve your goal you not only need to be committed but you need to be accountable to someone who will be supportive and encouraging.

I contacted Sandra’s to become a healthier person. My goal was to learn what to eat and in what portions to become healthier. Another goal was to become stronger. Knowing that I did not like to exercise, Sandra gave me an exercise plan that I could maintain and not feel overwhelmed. Sandra is a very motivating trainer and supported me all the way. After twelve sessions with Sandra I feel I can continue to maintain the weight I’ve lost using the exercise plan she designed for me. Sandra has given me a positive outlook towards exercising, and I now look forward to it. I am a much healthier person because of her. Thank you, Sandra!!!
